Prawn on the Lawn in Islington is a restaurant i have passed many times on my way home. I had previously mistaken this place as a fishmongers , so when my colleague told me that her friend owns it, and it was a restaurant it gave me a reason to visit.
As usual, i went on the one night i was not expecting and this made the experience even better. I am SOOOOOOO spontaneous.
The dishes we went for were Prawn on the Lawn (as above, avocado on toast with prawns), seared tuna, scallop ceviche, oysters (Just for me ) and a whole crab.
With Spring upon us and the days extended, this felt like the perfect night to have a few drinks and indulgen in some seafood. Laura and I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes and will be coming back.
The Prawn on the Lawn dish was nice, albeit a bit simple and we went for it as it was their signature dish. Just like ordering a cheeseburger at a burger restaurant I guess. Try the basics and go from there; So we did.
Next up was seared tuna with spring onion, chilli, lime, coriander, soy and mirin. This was a delicately flavoured dish and the Asian influence introduced a subtle zing to the Tuna.
Next up was a scallop ceviche with some familiar flavours ... and Gin? Why not? Again a foodie win here and very tasty.
The oysters and crab were seafood bliss. Slurping up the oyster and cracking open claws made this evening a bit more fun and an experience to remember. Not much is needed when the food tastes so good but a little bit of tobasco on the oysters and a bit of tarter with the crab definitely helped. Oh yes!
Thank you to Prawn on The Lawn for bringing the coast to London. This has saved me many trips to the seaside and is definitely food to take home too. Thank you Francis and Polly for the recommendation.
