However, as you know, I am willing to travel for food and when I travel my expectations do increase.
This visit was initiated by the curry club and the crew asked to go to Enfield and try out Saathi. The prior experience of Saathi, was that Kapil had takeaway from here before and said it was okay. I trust his word and being National Curry Week that week, it had to happen.
As always, we went for the mixed tandoori grill, which came with chicken and sheekh kebab with some lamb tikka too. Alongside this we also had some chilli Paneer and strangely enough, lamb samosa too. We like to change it up every so often.
The starters were okay, nothing to great. A common mistake by some places is that they rub the same spices on their mixed platter and although they are different meats and cuts, they all end up tasting the same.
|The samosas and the paneer also were not much to write about. This time, the main courses were better than the starters. Although that is not saying much.
I feel that Saathi, winners of the best local restaurant in 2012 have not moved with the times. Good food then can still be good food now, but they seem to have stagnated a touch there. I think the locals will go back and be good to their local businesses, but for me to travel there, I want that bit more.
Decent food, but a refresh of the menu (maybe cut it down) and a modern outlook will definitely help them out.
