The food I had all day was: Bacon and Egg Roll, A Sushi box (6 rolls, 5 nigiri), Seared scallops, Steak and Treacle Tart and finally, Ham Hock Terrine with salad, Roast chicken with Veg and Tiramisu ice cream. I was so stuffed I couldn't fit into the door. A good day is when you are pleasantly stuffed full of all your favourite foods, you have been with friends and loved ones and you just want to sleep after.
The Pictures, above and below are form LeCoq near Highbury & Islington station. a relatively new restaurant with a relatively simple set menu. Starts, Roast Chicken or Pork and Desert. I had read and heard about this place via twitter and the Hot Dinners website (Thanks Oran), so it was on my list and thanks for Oran he booked it for a special Christmas special edition of the Curry Club. No curry but the same guys including the partners. The menu sounded very appealing and to eat I had Ham Hock Terrine to start, Roast Chicken as a main course with amazing roast potatoes and "dangerous sprouts" and the Tiramisu ice cream to finish.
Each element was really good and left me in a food daze or food coma as I couldn't move or breathe. One issue we had was that when the chicken came out it was cold, yet tasty. Thankfully they took it back and served us some hot and tasty chicken. The chicken was cooked really well, nice and juicy and it felt like a nice place to have a roast dinner. With drinks too, the meal came up to over £40 a head so I am not sure if I will go back in any rush but I did enjoy the food. Another strange occurrence was that we were nto expecting the Tiramisu, in the previous menu we were told of a panettone ice cream but we didn't get this because it "wasn't good". Usually waiters/waitresses would not say that their food is not good or that something else was better- at least they were being honest.
Writing about all this food is making me hungry. Have a great Christmas
