For starters the options were two; beef tartar and mackerel teriyaki. Laura went for the beef and I chose the teriyaki. They were both great but disappointingly quite small portions. The dishes were both very different but equally tasty. My fish was doused with the right amount of teriyaki. Cooked well and flaking, the mackerel went quickly to a happy guys belly.
Laura's beef tarter was greeted with the same pleasure and I was lucky to have a bite. The texture of the beef was a delight and with the pickled vegetables on the side added a different flavour for every bite. The starters were on point and scrumptious.
Onto the next one. Pork Loin for Laura and Roast Cod for moi. Michelin starred is supposed to be mean quality and quality was delivered. These main courses were delicate, buttery, soft and well seasoned. Actually the extra salt on the cod was a good touch and was something that I definitely welcomed. The pork dish was good stuff too and initially I was upset that I didn't order it. The meat was tender and juicy and cooked well.
To be honest, I have been raving about the food a lot so far. It was a good meal and I enjoyed it all. Was anything outstanding? Will it make me go back again for another meal. At over £40 each probably not, but with the view of London and the attentive service, Galvin gives you a night to remember.
A desert was needed. We weren't full after the main courses and something was missing ok our taste buds. The sweetness of the tart delivered is the final piece, at an extra £8 supplement it wasn't too bad and the Tart and dots of jelly were the sweet touch we wanted.
Get high with Galvin and soar over London. Michelin restaurants are about the whole package. Service, staff, food, quality, care and experience. It's not simple enough to say the food wasn't worth it or the service was amazing. You need it all and Galvin at Window goes close to reaching the top. Many thanks.
