West London is lovely (and Pricey). As always it depends where you can and recently Kings Road and the Chelsea area is becoming more dominated by some chains. Some of these include Busaba Eathai, Wagamama and a few more.
I like these places but luckily have been too a few other places and tasted some great food. Please see my Top 5 below.
The Painted Heron: A lovely restaurant on Cheyne Walk, where Mick Jagger used to live. Quality Indian Food by Chef Datta, with great service and highlights form Main course to Dessert.
Worlds End Market: Meat or Fish in high quality in this old pub. A good experience within a good venue. The drinks menu is also up there and you could easily stay after dinner to soak up the atmosphere.
Vicino Restaurant: Home made Italian style cooking, with a signature dish of Lobster Linguine. Garlic is there in abundance and it is all about simple cooking done well.
Big Easy: The Home of the American BBQ in London and the UK. This site is one of the originals and brings you big platters of seafood or smoked meats. The lunch time deals are also well worth a try.
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay: My first time experiencing a 3 star Michelin restaurant and it was good. I am not sure if it is worth the price, but I didn't pay. Go for the full service and being treated like a mini celebrity. The food isn't too bad either.
Good options and choices in the area. The radius was slightly extended and a notable mention for The Beaumont which was the venue for my friends wedding reception. Now i just need to try and find a place to live round there.
Mayfair is THE MUST HAVE destination on a Monopoly board. It is an area in London which screams opulence, wealth, class and expensive. The list of restaurants here follow that trend and I have been lucky to go, albeit weighing heavy on my wallet.
Great restaurants which attract a certain clientele. those with money. In most instances you get what you pay for and with these five that is the case.
Let me know what you think.
Once dubbed as the foodie place in London by yours truly, Fitzrovia is a happy place for all foodies.
Continuing where Soho finishes, Fitzrovia and especially Charlotte Street provide a variety of restaurants and fast food joints for all lovers of food.
The definition of Fitzrovia is quite loose here, so I have spread out a bit, towards Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street, but sort of within the area.
Check out the 5 below.
Oh London, thank you so much.
These great places can hurt and empty your wallets, but for the most part, you get what you pay for.
Fitzrovia caters to the media with its fancy restaurants and bars. Good quality and a destination in town for all foodies., this really is the place to be.
North London stand up.
Stoke Newington is or WAS the latest so called trendy place. I live close by, therefore I am trendy. YOU GET ME?
This long stretch of road is full of restaurants, not many or ANY chains on the block but a lot of feel good places. Have a look at TripAdvisor and you will see the conundrum.
This Top 5 was a bit difficult for me on my own, so I enlisted the help of a few friends. Thanks Oran.
The locals love the food and the food is for the locals.
People are more than happy to travel for good food and I am included. When the food is quality than this doesn't become an issue. Also, when you tell people you are going to Stoke Newington, your cool factor immediately goes up.
The options in Camden are plentiful. Lots of pubs, bars and the market give you lots of options.
A part of town which brings in lots of tourists and Londoners, Camden's vibrancy is one for all.
In terms of food, the options here are abundant. I managed to pick my Top 5. Let me know if you agree or not.
Top 5 in Camden:
Honest Burger: One of the first burger places in London to make it. Honest has multiplied now throughout London and their signature rosemary chips are legendary. Their burgers are tasty and their specials are always good combos and ones to try.
Hache: This upmarket, gourmet burger restaurant was and is a pioneer of the burger scene. A true classic, this is the Fine Dining of burger eating. With duck Burger on the menu too, Hache refines the true great cuisine of burgers.
Gilgamesh: Asian and Japanese Fusion. Gilgamesh a restaurant/club welcomes all for whatever type of night you want. A date night, to a family Occassion and then a party hard type of evening. Gilgamesh has it all with good quality food too. You do pay for this all, but the food is good.
Shaka Zulu: This is almost like the younger sibling of Gilgamesh. restaurant/club. Same, Same but different. Shaka Zulu specialises in Afrikaans grilled or barbecue food. This brings with it great steaks and meat from Buffalo, Ostrick and even Zebra. Definitley one to try.
Porky's: Pork and other meats. Think hot dogs, pulled pork and ribs. Add to that, classic sides of fries and mac 'n' cheese and the growing clamour for American type food is satisfied here.
Notable Mention and Shout out to: Woody's - this is the place to go for a late night kebab. Conveniently placed by the station and bus stops, this is the way to end any night in Camden.
Also, during the day is the newly introduced KERB camden, as well as the busy food market. Camden may not be the top place for foodies, but there sure are a lot of options.
Keep on eating London!

Did I tell you that I love the food in London. This last week alone, London has three restaurants featured in the San Pellegrino World's Best 50 restaurant list; these include The Ledbury, Clove Club and Dinner by Heston. Not Bad.
So now onto focusing on a new area of London: Angel/Islington.
The area that gives us the third longest escalator in Europe at 60m as well as having more restaurants than days of the year- narrowing this list to five will be difficult.
The hub of London, the welcome point for our European cousins. Kings Cross is an important location and it's only right that we have good food to welcome them all.
The regeneration work being put into the area means that restaurants and foodies are excited about the changes and the new places coming in. Some stables are in the Top 5 but thankfully these new additions have made the area a great destination.
Not a bad list and many more places popping up too. Kings Cross is becoming a destination in its own right and no longer a through road. Get ready London.
East London is well known for its curry houses and more specifically it is their lamb chops and fast service. Get in, order your food and before you know it you are out of there.
If you are in east London and Whitechapel then you are probably there for a curry. From Bangladeshi restaurants, Indian and The more popular Pakistani restaurants there is plenty for all.
The Top 5 when in Whitechapel and the places to go are:
Now what a time, to be alive!
When it becomes too difficult to choose your top 5 places within a mile radius, you know you are in for a treat. Options are key and in Soho you have plenty. I've asked friends for their input in this list and it became quite heated; so I chose myself and ignored what they said and narrowing it down to 5 was tough.
From stylish and trendy to quick eats and expensive bites, Soho has it all.
My Top 5 (I think) are:
I have no idea how I restricted it to five, or even these five restaurants. I am not even sure I agree with them too. Please do let me know if you agree and where I have missed out on going in Soho.
Where I live and work are the two most important food places for me.
Working in Covent Garden ensures that my pay cheque is divided into two, one half is on household bills and the other half, is spent on food. The foodie treats range from lunch time bites to fine dining in the evening with Laura.
I would like to think that I am an expert in Covent Garden cuisines and where to go and what to eat. However, this was a very difficult one to narrow down to 5.
Let me know if you agree or disagree.
Other notable mentions must go to Homeslice (the biggest and best Pizza around), Flesh & Buns (by the Bone Daddies group) and Dishoom ( huge queues for great Indian food).
